About detectors

We offer devices for detecting light from the ultra-violet to the infrared, and into the x-ray region. These are solid state imaging devices, photodiodes, CCD's and CMOS, which provide a method of converting an optical image to an electronic format. If you are interested in how a CCD works, we have basic information available on CCD theory. These products vary in complexity from IC chips, and imaging integration modules to full digital cameras.

Sensors are available as linear photodiode arrays (with CCD readout registers) and two-dimensional CCD arrays. Two-dimensional arrays are further broken down into full frame sensors and frame transfer devices.

Our sensors and cameras are not end consumer products and are typically embedded as integrated parts in our customers' products. Peripheral electronics and camera kits are available for some sensors.

CCD Area Devices
Full frame devices

These sensors do not have a memory zone; the entire element array forms the image zone. After integration, photon charges are directly transferred line by line into the read-out register.

Frame transfer devices

These arrays are characterized by the separation of the element array into two identical areas: image zone - which receives the optical information, and masked memory zone - this is the area into which the image field is transferred for subsequent readout by the readout register.

Linear sensors

Linear CCD image sensors are essentially a photodiode array, forming the central part of the device with analog shift registers located on both sides. The shift registers transfer the charges generated in the photodiodes to the output circuit.

These sensors feature high sensitivity and spectral response from 330 to 1100nM as well as good resolution performance. The sensor structure and a thin optically active area enhance good near infrared performance.

Linear CCD Devices
Part number Pixels Pixel size Taps Frequency per tap
TH7813ACC 1024 10 µm x 10 µm 2 25MHz
TH7814ACC 2048 10 µm x 10 µm 2 25MHz
TH7815ACC 4096 10 µm x 10 µm 2 25MHz
TH7834CCC 12000 6.5 µm x 6.5 µm 4 10MHz

X-ray sensors

For high to medium volume, customer special X-ray sensors are available. Applications include: intra-oral, panoramic and cephalometric.  Typical sizes for panoramic sensors are 140 mm, and cephalometric sensors are 230 mm.
